I am so excited that you asked! I am here to help you every step of the way when planning for your senior session. Senior year is such an important time in your life... here are a few tips and tricks I'd love to share with you to make your senior session go smoothly...

Date and Location

  • Choosing a date
  • One of the first questions I am going to ask you is "do you have a date or location in mind?" Weekend dates go very quickly, but I usually have a lot of weekday dates open. When scheduling a time for your session I base that on when the best lighting will be, I like to plan sessions for around 9/10am or 2ish hours before the sunsets.
  • Choosing a Location
  • The hardest part of session planning is always choosing the location. We are so blessed in the Youngstown area to have so many great locations with in driving distance. Check out this blog HERE for some of my area favorites.

What should I wear?

I always suggest to my clients to plan for three outfits:

  • Something Dressy
  • For Guys I'd suggest a shirt and tie or a nice dress pants with a button up shirt.
  • For the Ladies I'd suggest a nice dress with heals
  • I always joke that "this is the one that grandma is going to want to put on her wall"
  • Something Casual
  • For the Guys I'd suggest jeans with a nice t-shirt, flannel or sweat shirt.
  • For the Ladies I'd suggest jeans with a nice t-shirt, cardigan, tank top, etc.
  • Something personal to you.
  • Do you play on a sports team? include your jersey or uniform. In the marching band? Bring your instrument. What ever you are interested in id love to include it!

A few notes on picking clothing...

Make sure to pick outfits that you are comfortable in and reflect your personality.

Be sure to try on the outfits that you are going to wear, i promise you that if you do not like how something fits when you are looking in the mirror you are not going to like how you photograph in it.

Make sure to iron everything and bring your outfit changes on a hanger.

And lastly keep in mind the color and patterns that you are choosing, tiny prints don't photograph very well.

What about the details?

  • Nails
  • Make sure that you have manicured nails. I can't paint your nails or fixed chipped polish in photoshop.
  • Planning on getting a hair cut?
  • Make sure to get your haircut around 2 weeks before your session.
  • Break outs or blemishes?
  • Don't worry about an unexpected blemish. That I can retouch no problem!

What if I need you to send a picture in for the yearbook?

That is no problem! I'd be happy to send your favorite image to the yearbook. All I need is the email of who I send it to.
